Actually I do remember that there was a trick to get power armor early, and somehow I had already missed the opportunity. For whatever reason (I can't remember now for sure), I couldn't really follow the guide and still go off and do my own thing. I didn't have so much luck with Fallout 2. This worked out pretty well with Fallout 1, because the game was open, but not enough to where you couldn't easily get back on track with the guide after having a little fun off the beaten path. It ran great! I wanted to get a feeling for the game, but I didn't want to get stuck at some point and have my interest wane because it was too much trouble to figure it out, so I followed a walkthrough. Oh yeah, fuck Klint and my inability to give him something out of my fucking inventory when he runs out of his throwing spears. I've read in some walkthrus that there's explosives in the room to the south of the locked door, but I ain't found shit except a big-ass scorpion that has no fucking business in a level 1 dungeon. I suppose that to keep this from merely being a rant, does anyone how to open that goddamn motherfucking first locked door that I think is supposed to demonstrate the lockpick mechanic. I finally just walked away talking about "fuck Fallout 2, piece of shit." I play BG2 about once every two years and it gives me zero fucking lip, so it's not about the age of the game. I know this game is supposed to be bad-ass and I really want to play it, but after spending four hours just getting it to load, then another hour trying to figure out how to open the first locked door (nope, lock picking doesn't fucking work-my browser is choking on Fallout 2 walk-thru and troubleshooting websites) and being able to start the game maybe one out of five times, I'm wondering if I'm really missing the game experience that's been described. It will load, crash on loading a save, crashed at the first intro video.
This assumes, of course, that I'm able to even get to the game's loading screen. It's hard as shit to see anything with these shitty graphics and right-clicks register about half the time. I'm banging my head against a wall trying to get the second door unlocked. So, I haven't even gotten past the motherfucking first temple.
Son of a fucking bitch, but this game's UI sucks mad ass.
